Local Government Secretariat

The need for reorganizing a Regular Local Government Department for controlling and supervising the local bodies in the State appears to have been felt in, 1348 F./ 19th July 1938, under the Farman of Nizam dated 12th Shahriwar 1948 F./19th July 1938, orders issued for the drafting of the various enactments dealing with Local Government. This work was entrusted to the Local Funds Administration, which was under the control of the Revenue Department till 1940. In 1947 Local funds administration grew into a regular Secretariat known as the local Government Department of the Secretariat. The local bodies came under the control of the Local Government Department. The records are available in Urdu and English language. The Urdu files preponderate the records of the Local Government Secretariat, which were received in the Central Records office in October, 1955. The records of the Local Government Secretariat were transferred to the Central Records office Hyderabad in October 1955.
