The Army Secretariat was established in 1864 for Regular Troops in connection with the proper conduct of business related to the Regular Forces of Hyderabad. This office Secretary dealt with expenditure matters of the Regular Troops, Imperial Service Troops and Golconda Brigade and their enlistment, appointments, transfers, promotions of the military personnel, under the general orders of Prime Minister. The Army Department reorganized under proper discipline. The disciplined unit, which acquired the name of the “Regular Force” while undisciplined unit, also continued simultaneously and was called the “Irregular Force”. In 1875 the Army Secretariat dealt with various matters relating to the maintenance of army i.e. custom duties on the army, rules & regulations relating to armies and their promotions, leaves, appointments, dismissals. This department records are in Urdu and English, and these records were transferred to Central Records Office in 1950.
